- Account and profile data: Sign-in identifiers, display name, avatar choice, and language preference.
- Subscription and purchase data: Subscription status, transaction identifiers, and purchase verification results from Apple/Google billing systems.
- Content files and reading text: For locally created books, we do not collect or store your raw page images, generated audio files, or full reading text content on our servers.
- Usage data: Reading progress, reward status, app interactions, and feature usage events needed to provide core functionality.
- Device and technical data: Installation ID, app version, device push token, and basic diagnostics/security logs.
3. Permissions and Why We Request Them
- Camera: To capture picture-book pages.
- Photos/Media Library: To import existing page images.
- Notifications (optional): To send updates such as "book parsing complete".
- Network access: To sync account metadata, service settings, and subscription entitlement status.
You can revoke permissions in your device settings. Revoking certain permissions may limit specific features.
4. How We Use Information
- Provide core features: picture-book capture, local OCR/read-aloud experiences, and reading companion features.
- Personalize your experience: narrator selection, language handling, and progress continuity.
- Process and verify subscriptions, prevent abuse/fraud, and enforce account security.
- Improve service reliability, performance, and quality through analytics and diagnostics.
- Deliver service notifications if you opt in.
5. Copyright and User Responsibility
- You are responsible for ensuring that books, images, audio, and text materials you use are owned by you or properly licensed/authorized for your intended use.
- For locally created books, content files remain on your device. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not collect those raw files.
- If we receive valid infringement claims, we may restrict, remove, or retain relevant content and records as required for legal compliance.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited data with service providers strictly for service delivery, including:
- Cloud hosting and storage providers
- Push notification providers
- Payment and subscription verification providers (Apple App Store, Google Play)
We may also disclose information when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and our services.
7. Children and Family Use
ReadPal is designed for family and child-friendly reading use. We encourage use under parent/guardian supervision. If you believe a child has provided data inappropriately, contact us and we will review and delete data as required by applicable law.
8. Data Retention
We keep account and operational metadata only as long as needed for service operation, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and security purposes. For locally created books, raw images, audio files, and reading text stay on your device and are not retained by us as uploaded content.
9. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in regions where our infrastructure or providers operate. We implement reasonable safeguards for cross-border processing in accordance with applicable law.
10. Your Rights and Choices
- Access or update account/profile information in-app
- Delete account and related content in-app
- Manage notification preferences at OS level
- Manage subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play account settings
11. Security
We apply technical and organizational controls such as access control, authentication, and transport security. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we continuously improve safeguards.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The app may link to third-party services (for example, Apple or Google subscription management pages). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
